ICC Awards: Butler captures ICC's special trophy, beats Afridi and Rashid
England's limited overs captain Jos Buttler has been awarded a special ICC award for his stellar performance. Butler, who won the T20 World Cup 2022 title in Australia, has been selected by the ICC as the best player for the month of November. In this case, Butler has defeated compatriot Adil Rashid and Pakistan's star fast bowler Shaheen Afridi.
Butler scored runs in the World Cup
Butler had left his mark not only in captaincy but also in batting during the World Cup. He began the month with a crucial match against New Zealand in November, scoring a match-winning 73 off 47 balls in the encounter between the two teams in Brisbane. It was also Buttler's 100th T20 match and the explosive England opener left no stone unturned to make it one to remember.
Record made against India
Jose did not stop here and played a stormy inning of 80 runs in 49 balls, maintaining his excellent form against India in the semi-finals. He made a record and unbroken partnership of 170 runs for the first wicket with Alex Hales and was successful in taking the team to a 10-wicket victory. The England captain also made an important contribution of 26 runs in the final against Pakistan and managed to create history by winning the T20 World Cup title for the second time.
Butler expressed gratitude to the fans
Butler said, “I would like to thank the fans who voted for me as the ICC Player of the Month for November. I got this award because of the efforts of my team mates. We have had an incredible month in which we won the Men's T20 World Cup in Australia.
